Northern Westchester-Putnam Physical Therapy, P.C.

About Us

Mission Statement

To assist the client to achieve their goals with individually designed one-on-one hands on Physical Therapy programs which might include a variety of modalities, assisted stretching, massage, joint mobilizations, myofascial release or craniosacral type therapies, therapeutic exercise to increase range of motion, strength, function, improve walking or exercise ability, enhance general conditioning for wellness and improve sports performance.

Our History

The practice was started in 1984 to serve the population in Northern Westchester and Southern Putnam counties of New York State. We soon outgrew our initial 800 square foot office space and over the years have expanded to include two offices – one a 5,000 square foot facility in the Mahopac National Bank Building in Putnam Valley and a 2,700 square foot facility in the Jefferson Valley Medical Center in Yorktown Heights right around the corner from the Jefferson Valley Mall and across from Jefferson Village. Both offices are designed to provide private patient treatment rooms as well as state of the art well equipped gyms. Initially a one Therapist and receptionist office, we are proud to have on staff 11 Full time and 10 Part time Physical Therapists and 3 Physical Therapy Assistants.

Therapy

Our Therapists are all extremely well trained, experienced, caring and competent individuals who bring a wide variety of experience in various settings to benefit us as a whole. All are generalists in practice and some have areas of special interests and expertise. These areas include Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Dance Injury Management, Neurological and Orthopedic Pediatric Physical Therapy, Geriatric, Osteoporosis and Fall Prevention, Breast Cancer Rehabilitation, Yoga Rehabilitation, Chronic Back and Knee Pain (Spinal Decompression Treatment available), shoulder, ankle, knee, wrist, sacro-iliac and Tempromandibular Joint (TMJ) Dysfunction management. We also have a specially trained Therapist available to evaluate for and fabricate custom molded Orthotics.

The various schedules of the Therapists allow us to offer hours 8:00 am to 9:00 pm weekdays and 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturdays at both facilities. Our goals include not only the relief of pain and increasing range of motion, but providing improved balance and conditioning of the entire musculoskeletal system, enhancing the quality of life and the ability to function including sports performance.

Our Commitment

What sets us apart from other practices is our commitment to one-on-one adequate Therapist – Patient quality time. Our approach is appropriate targeted hands on therapy as well as individually designed exercise programs. Each patient is assigned their own treating Therapist who performs an Evaluation and designs an appropriate program based on the individual patient’s goals and needs. We are also proud of our outstanding support staff – Receptionists, Physical Therapy Technicians, and friendly and knowledgeable Billing staff to help you navigate the confusing web of insurance reimbursement. Their efforts allow the Therapist to concentrate on uninterrupted focused care of the patient during their scheduled time.

Our referral base includes an extensive array of former patients as well as over two hundred physicians from the local areas and specialists associated with New York City major hospitals, Hudson Valley Hospital, Putnam, Northern Westchester and Phelps Memorial Hospitals. Physicians refer to us from New Jersey and Connecticut, but usually another referral from a New York State licensed physician is required for insurance reimbursement. Recent New York State law allows us to treat 10 visits without a Physician’s referral. However, insurance reimbursement is not yet available without physician’s referral. We are proud to enjoy good communication and a working relationship with many of the physicians and other healthcare practitioners in the area.
